As the human population grows, so too the infestations of parasitic bugs that thrive on the human body. In fact, contrary to what some believe, head lice, body louse and pubic crab infestations are not exchanged by other mammals but are species specific to humans, and humans only. How to get rid of lice has never been easy, and it seems to be getting even more complex. It is not that long ago that we thought we could throw away our head lice combs or nit combs in favor of the new lice treatment products. Lice can be spread by close personal contact with an infested person. Head lice can also be spread through the sharing of personal articles like hats, towels, brushes, helmets, hair ties, etc. There is also a possibility of spreading head lice via a pillow, headrest or similar objects.
Removing lice require much effort, patience and determination. You have to remove lice and lice eggs one by one. There are many possible ways in order to remove head lice one of which is using medicated lice shampoo. After taking a bath while the hair is still wet you can divide the whole hair area into one-inch sections and comb form the scalp to the tip of the hair using fine toothed head lice comb. Identifying head lice is easier if you have a very fine comb (the famous lice comb) because you can wet the hair and then comb it for lice. If you think this is head lice but you really can't see any, it is always possible to make an anti-lice shampoo, but these shampoos are very aggressive for the scalp and can actually cause more intense itching than the lice themselves.
The itchy scalp is the main symptom of an infection with lice and nits, and the itching may also continue for some time after the treatment. In light of these short comings, many people are looking to natural treatments for lice. These treatments include using plant oils or silicone oils which coat the lice and suffocate them rather than acting as pesticides. Okay, so how do we get rid of head lice once we have them? Believe it or not, the easiest way, though it does take a while, is to comb out your hair each day. Get a brand new, never used comb, and just comb out your hair everyday.
The treatment for and eradication of body lice requires thorough washing of all clothing, bedding and body. Standard laundry detergent with hot water setting and the hottest drying setting should do the trick. Wash and dry body with unused soap and a clean or new towel. It was concluded that that a hot wash would take care of any head lice and nits found on bedding, soft toys or clothing. 15 minutes in a dryer would also spell certain death to the wee nasties, in the highly unlikely event they would leave the head in the first place. Breaking the head louse's life cycle is the most important part of destroying and eventually getting rid of the infestation. Breaking the life cycle will cause the number of lice to remain steady for a while and this gives you an opportunity to attack.
